These articles offer guides on using different ’Mech designs in BattleTech. They cover the capabilities of the designs and advice on getting the most out of each one during a game. Each article is focused on a specific variant or configuration since tactics can vary a lot as equipment changes even for the same model.
When writing the guides, I assume that you’ll be playing with at least the Floating Criticals and Design Quirks optional rules. I’ll also cover a bit about Chaos Campaign play and touch on some other optional rules when discussing particular Design Quirks or pieces of equipment. If you’re not playing with those options, some parts of the guides will not be as useful or would need adjustments, but the majority of them should still be relevant even if you aren’t playing with any optional rules.
These guides are not going to cover a lot of the lore or look at the value of the designs in terms of what you get for the Battle Value cost. For those aspects of designs, I recommend On the Origin of BattleMechs and Death from Above Wargaming‘s Battlytics.
My goal is to publish a post each Monday. If you have suggestions for a design that you’d like to see covered, please let me know. Here is the list of published and upcoming guides:
