Rosaline the Songbird

Rosaline has learned to blend music and magic using the rare art of sonancy. Learning that school of magic from the few remaining tidbits of lore has been a challenge, but she has embraced adventure and found herself welcome across the southern kingdoms as a famed performer.

When another wandering bard brought news of the discovery of the ancient city of Felstad, Rosaline decided to set off on a new adventure to see if she could uncover any of the fabled spellsongs of the long-lost cities sonancers.

Spells

Rosaline’s magical music is most useful when used to aid her followers. She can help them spring into action with Fast Act, give them the gift of speed with Fleet Feet, bolster their might with Strength, and mend their wounds with Heal. When she needs to fight a fellow spellcaster, Steal Voice can give her an advantage. Beauty and Charm can both be used to keep herself safe from attack. When she must commit herself to violence, the thundering crescendo of a Sound Wave is her most effective option.

  • Beauty – Illusionist 14
  • Charm – Sonancer 8
  • Fast Act – Chronomancer 10
  • Fleet Feet – Chronomancer 12
  • Heal – Thaumaturge 12
  • Sound Wave – Sonancer 12
  • Steal Voice – Sonancer 12
  • Strength – Enchanter 12

Apprentice

Rosaline’s apprentice goes by the name of Lily, but she is actually Princess Lilianna Fortuna Leon of Ionisse. She was entranced by Rosaline during the Songbird’s visit to her family’s castle and then ran away with the sonancer to become her loyal apprentice. While she is capable of casting any spell that Rosaline knows, she tends to favor Fast Act and Heal.

Soldiers

Rosaline likes to travel with a well-equipped guard. A knight, rumored to be a royal bodyguard loyal to Lily, leads the force. Second to the knight is a crossbowman that provides a hard-hitting ranged attack to the warband. Two infantrymen and four thugs fill out the group.

  • Crossbowman
  • Infantryman × 2
  • Knight
  • Thug × 4

Transcendence

When Rosaline casts Transcendence she becomes a beautiful living song that lingers in the minds of all who hear it and echoes through the ages.

Wednesday Wizards is a series of posts that I’m planning to write for the next few months. Each entry will present a wizard for Frostgrave Second Edition with background, spell selection, soldiers, and their goal in exploring the city. These wizards and warbands could be used as-is to start a new campaign or serve as inspiration as you build your own wizard.
