Gino the Star Mage

Gino claims that he is not from this world. He is from the distant stars, but was sent to Felstad to avert a crisis foreseen by his world’s mystic elders. Since arriving, he has been gathering a band of followers to aid him in his quest.

Spells

Gino is an Astromancer who wields the magical power of the stars. When a confrontation starts, he tends to open with a casting of Alignment and then Power Word to give himself a bonus to cast one of his more difficult spells. For offense, he can make use of Scatter Shot, Meteor Strike, and Shape Starfire Elemental depending on the situation. Glow lets him aid his soldiers with ranged weapons and Elemental Hammer does the same for close combat. Finally, Telekinesis helps to ensure the treasures of the frozen city are in easy reach.

  • Alignment – Astromancer 12
  • Elemental Hammer- Elementalist 12
  • Glow – Illusionist 14
  • Meteor Strike – Astromancer 14
  • Power Word – Sigilist 16
  • Scatter Shot – Elementalist 14
  • Shape Starfire Elemental – Astromancer 12
  • Telekinesis – Enchanter 14

Apprentice

Mala was one of the first people that Gino encountered after starting his quest. He felt her aptitude for the magical arts and began to train her in the secret lore of Astromancy. In battle, she focuses on aiding their soldiers with Elemental Hammer and sending starfire elementals into battle with Shape Starfire Elemental.

Soldiers

Gino has attracted a motley group of followers. He encourages the use of bows and crossbows so that they can take advantage of his castings of Glow.

  • Archer
  • Crossbowman
  • Infantryman
  • Thug Ă— 3
  • Thief
  • Tracker

Transcendence

When Gino successfully casts Transcendence, he completes his mystical quest and his spirit is free to return to the stars.

Wednesday Wizards is a series of posts that I’m planning to write for the next few months. Each entry will present a wizard for Frostgrave Second Edition with background, spell selection, soldiers, and their goal in exploring the city. These wizards and warbands could be used as-is to start a new campaign or serve as inspiration as you build your own wizard.
