Leith and Enfys are new arrivals in the ruined city of Felstad. They have learned a range of spells and are now ready to test their mettle against the dangers of the city and rival wizards.
Note: I designed this wizard and warband to be a good set of spells and soldiers for a new player. The spells offer a mix of options to cover helping your own soldiers, making attacks, and manipulating the battlefield. I also tried to opt for spells with simpler rules to make them easy to understand for someone who hasn’t played before. For soldiers, I decided to limit the number of soldier types by doubling up on each of four types.
Spells
Leith’s spell book contains a mixed set of spells with options for any situation. Enchant Armour and Enchant Weapon help to make soldiers more effective. Explosive Rune and Fog allow for manipulating the battlefield to block line of sight or restrict movement. Telekinesis can be used to pull a treasure into a more accessible location or away from enemies. Elemental Bolt is a solid attack option when Leith has to deal with monsters or opposing warbands. Heal helps to keep Leith’s followers alive. Teleport is an option if Leith needs to get out of a bad situation or quickly cross the battlefield.
- Elemental Bolt – Elementalist 14
- Enchant Armour – Enchanter 8
- Enchant Weapon – Enchanter 8
- Explosive Rune – Sigilist 12
- Fog – Witch 10
- Heal – Thaumaturge 12
- Telekinesis – Enchanter 10
- Teleport – Illusionist 14
Apprentice
Enfys, Leith’s apprentice, most often helps the warband by casting Enchant Armour and Enchant Weapon on the soldiers so that Leith can focus on their more difficult to cast spells. Enfys is also fairly capable of casting Fog and Telekinesis once the soldiers’ arms and armor have been enchanted.
Soldiers
Leith has hired a small group of soldiers for exploring the ruins. Two men-at-arms provide the group’s muscle while two archers are able to engage enemies at range. Then two thieves and two thugs are available as back up and to help haul away any loot recovered from the ruins.
- Archer × 2
- Man-at-Arms × 2
- Thief × 2
- Thug × 2
Transcendence
When Leith casts transcendence, the Magician opens a gateway to new adventures and invites other wizards to begin their own journeys.
Wednesday Wizards is a series of posts that I’m planning to write for the next few months. Each entry will present a wizard for Frostgrave Second Edition with background, spell selection, soldiers, and their goal in exploring the city. These wizards and warbands could be used as-is to start a new campaign or serve as inspiration as you build your own wizard.
