I’ve continued working on the MegaMek file parser that I mentioned a couple months ago, and over the weekend I got to the point where it could handle every valid mech file from MegaMek!
That means that the tool I wrote is generating summaries for 3,755 mech variants and handling almost every piece of technology from BattleTech.
In addition to adding support for more types of equipment and implementing parsing for the mtf files, I also enabled GitHub Pages for the repo to provide a better browsing experience.
You can view the nice version of the site here: MegaMek Unit Digest
And the GitHub repo is here: scottboehmer/megamek-unit-digest
I still have more work I’m planning to do for the site. While the program is handling all of the data files now, it isn’t calculating all of the battle values yet. If I’m feeling really ambitious, I could also add calculating C-Bill costs for all of the designs. I also would like to add some design analysis at some point.

Just found this, will give it a try.
Have you ever considered whether this could work to convert unit files between MegaMek and Heavy Metal?
I think the same general idea could be used for converting MegaMek files in to Heavy Metal’s format, but I’ve never used Heavy Metal, so I’m not sure what its file format is.
I used Heavy Metal literally two decades ago, and only discovered MegaMek last year (I mainly use MegaMekLab for design). The website is findable thru sarna.net, and it looks like the product is still supported. I think it’s an interesting question because despite developing & being supported in parallel over the years, AFAIK file cross-conversion has never been done before. The developers of MegaMek (who are 100% volunteers) have expressed explicit disinterest in such a project.
