Red King 3.2: Vladimir and The Veil of Unreality

After securing a couple of treasures in their raid on a barbarian camp, Vladimir and his warband were lost in the ruins of Felstad after reality cracked and twisted the streets around them. Both Vladimir and Beatrix tried to cast Awareness to help guide them, but both failed to gain any insight.

When they approached the shimmering veil of unreality, a group of foulhorns and barbarians caught up with them. One foulhorn rushed forward to engage Mila and Gabriel, but the mystic warrior and demon hunter managed to take the beast down. The rest of the group continued to press forward, but some unseen force pulled Beatrix and the group’s zombie backwards.

As Vladimir continue to hurry his warband along, another foulhorn charged forward but Camilla managed to score a critical hit with her bow to take it down before it could do any damage. Unfortunately, barbarians managed to close in and bog down many of Vladimir’s soldiers in hand-to-hand combat.

Annabelle managed to pick up a valuable looking piece of treasure from the ruins as she approached a canal alongside Vladimir, William, and Camilla. The rest of the warband was not so lucky. Mila was knocked out by a barbarian and Beatrix was forced to defend herself in melee against another barbarian who had somehow immolated himself but continued to fight.

Beatrix didn’t last long as was cut down by the barbarians. Meanwhile, Vladimir and Annabelle waded across the canal while William and Camilla tried to buy them time. Two foulhorns and a barbarian were close behind.

Not long after Beatrix fell, the rest of Vladimir’s soldiers still on that side of the canal were taken down by the rampaging barbarians. Camilla fell into the canal as a foulhorn and barbarian charged past her position, but Vladimir managed to animate a zombie just in time for it to serve as a unliving shield.

As William suffered a critical hit from the foulhorn he was trying to slow down, Vladimir and Annabelle escaped to safety. It was a hard fight, but they managed to make it back to the safety of their base. Beatrix and William both died from their wounds, but the rest of Vladimir’s soldiers eventually recovered enough to rejoin him.
