Super Dungeon Explore is one of my favorite board games, so I was very happy to see Soda Pop Miniatures was working on a new expansion for it called Forgotten King. Unlike the previous two expansions, Caverns of Roxor and Von Drakk Manor, this one is going to be a big, standalone box. It has 4 new heroes, a bunch of new monsters, new board tiles, and a new game mode. In addition to the new game mode, the rules are going to be updated and errata’d.
In order to help speed up publishing the expansion, Soda Pop Miniatures is running a Kickstarter campaign for the expansion. The good news is that this means there are nice bonuses for backers that make buying the expansion now a great deal. Currently, backers get 4 extra heroes, 2 spawn points of monsters, and upgrade decks for existing sets in addition to the normal contents of the Forgotten King expansion.
If you already own Super Dungeon Explore, Forgotten King looks like a great expansion that will add a bunch of new options for both the heroes and the consul, and if you don’t own the game already, it looks like a good starting point that’ll give you everything you need to start playing.
