Recently, I’ve been thinking about mechanics for weapon batteries in Sword of Terra. Previously, I’ve simply given multiple weapons to a ship that share a firing arc, but I want some additional restrictions and benefits for weapons sharing a turret. Currently, I’m thinking about using the following rules when a ship has multiple weapons of the same type linked together to form a single weapon battery. Let me know what you think.
Shared Targeting System
In a single round, weapons in a battery can only fire upon a single target. A player may opt to only fire some weapons in a battery at that target, but the player cannot fire any weapon in a battery at a different target than the other weapons in the same battery.
Spread Fire
A ship may use the spread fire option to increase accuracy. When making a spread fire attack, the player makes a single to-hit and to-damage roll for the entire battery rather than one set of rolls for each weapon. The spread fire attack has the same power as a single weapon from the battery, but it gains a +1 bonus to accuracy for each weapon in the battery beyond the first.
Focused Fire
In an attempt to breach armor normally impervious to a weapon, a ship can use focused fire. As with spread fire, the player makes a single to-hit and to-damage roll for the entire battery rather than one set for each weapon. The focused fire attack has the same accuracy as a single weapon from the battery, but it gains a +1 bonus to power for each weapon in the battery beyond the first.

Those sound like solid options for simplicity yet tactical variety. I’m not familiar with the way the numbers work, but those bonus +1s could really stack up.
